Steve headed down a week early to spend some time at an eco resort run by this guy Jonathan. Sort of a silver spoon guy. I'm a bit nervous flying so soon after 9-11, and through Atlanta, but we are not ones to stay put so off we go!
First Day: I love it here! I'm so happy to be back traveling, to Costa Rica, all of the above. Everything has gone fine so far. A bit strange traveling by myself, but I'm proud of how I've done. From the airport, made it to the bus station downtown. I got a bus to Palmar Norte (practiced Spanish along the way) and found a cheap little room (sweltering hot, 6'x6' for $3). I walked around a bit even though I'm not one to do things by myself. I can't wait to see Steve!
Third Day: Everything that moves I think is Steve. Finally he made it. I was SO happy and SO excited to see him. He even brought me flowers he picked in the jungle.
Rest of Trip: We had a fun time going to Jonathan's resort (still being built) and hanging out with Margoth, the cook. Then we took a bus to a town and hiked about 8 hours into a Ranger Station where we spent a couple of nights. It was really amazing. We crossed so many rivers along the hike (even one that was waist deep -had to carry our packs on our head- and had sharks swimming at the mouth!), saw a dead whale, etc. Hung out with some Israeli's who taught us a new drinking game (pyramid).
