BVI is an interesting place to visit. There are many islands relatively close together, each with a small village or two, some with actual towns like Virgin Gorda. It's all very island-casual as you would expect, and very expensive. The locals are all very nice, and a lot of livelihood on the islands is based around boat charters. Life is at the water's edge.

Of course you have the largest island of Tortola which is a jumping off point for a lot of sailing ventures around the islands. Road Town is a popular town with restaurants and such but the vibe is sort of weird, i's hard to find open restaurants, and is not very welcoming in my opinion.

Average Costs

The daily total includes all lodging, food, booze, transportation, sightseeing, visas, etc. I don't include the money I spend on gifts for friends and I do not include the flight price.

What to Wear

Beachy casual! You can wear pretty much whatever you'd like here. If you are on a boat or on the beach, plan on being in a bathing suit, beach cover, or comfy shorts and a tank top most of the time. A hat and rashguard are essential since you will be in the water and sun a lot. It's rarely cool in BVI, even at night. For a week on a boat, plan on a few swimsuits, some comfy shorts, a couple of tank tops, a rashguard or two, 2 swim coverups, and a sundress.
