Found our way from the cute little airport to our Hotel Kokomo which is right across from the ferry. Pretty big place we're sharing with a kitchen and big balcony overlooking the water. We even found Brugal (our favorite Domincan rum) at the store here! Yay!!
Still so hot here but Steve and I walked over to Melones beach for a swim and met later for some drinks in town. This island has way more personality and a lot more going on than Viequez did. Showering has been a challenge. The first hotel had only scalding hot water, the second had no hot at all, and this one is scalding until it has run for about 10 minutes.
We rented a golf cart and headed to Flamenco Beach. Wow, really pretty. But tons of people. The water is perfect, snorkeling fair, they have bathrooms and fresh drinkable water. Some old rusty US tanks at the end of the beach.Steve and I walked the path over to (possibly) Playa Carlos Rosario or Tamarindo Grande which had THE BEST snorkeling ever! So many corals and sea fans waving in the perfectly clear, warm water, and tons of fish!! If I didn't have a snorkel in, my jaw would have dropped. We were both in awe - indescribable.
"Puerto Rico has it all" is very accurate. My fav things: reggateon, tropical beaches including white cool sand with clear warm calm turquoise water, fab snorkeling, sea turtles (nesting sea turtles which means cute little babies flopping through the sand), bioluminescense, manatees, butterflies, jellyfish, rain forest, Brugal rum, nice weather!
Will go back for another snorkel at Tamarindo Grande in the morning then ferry back to the mainland to get to our fancy resort.
